Loewe Seasonal Collections and How They Differ
Loewe updates their story every couple months. Colors change and textures shift and one bag that is fragrant with winter smells now smells like straw and sunshine. The house becomes noticeable when you follow it.So what are the differences between Loewe's seasonal collections? Loewe has no neat guide for each season and the lineup continually changes. I'll keep to what is commonly known and just say out loud when I am guessing.
A short word of warning about Loewe
Loewe is a Spanish luxury brand which originated in Madrid in 1846 as a leather workshop. The core of it all are bags, but other items such as clothes, shoes, scarves and perfume go along with it. It is housed in Paris in its officialloewe.com collections.Remember the workshop! So, although it may seem like a wild season, the leather and stitching always bring it back to where it was made with care.
What a Season Means in Fashion
A time of the year when something is released or on sale. Most houses have different sets of collections for their warm seasons and cool seasons, and some have even smaller drops in between. They each have their own mood, colors and materials. This is important to the shopper since the shelves do change. That's when you may find a style you love back in a new color or it may disappear again until the house decides to bring it back.
Warm-Weather Collections
Spring and summer are lighter. Colors pop, fabrics become airy, and fibers go natural! Polished leather just can't match that sunny relaxed shape of Loewe's woven raffia Basket bag, which is a good representation of it.The house has also introduced summer lines inspired by a location, including Paula's Ibiza that's relaxed and easy. I'd read warm seasons at Loewe as half the year, the half that is traveling and playing.
Cold-Weather Collections
The seasons of fall and winter are financially tougher. You'll find higher quality leather, knits, coats, or thicker leathers and shapes are more common. Here, structured bags feel natural thanks to the overall feeling of warmth and protection. This is just a typical trend and not a rule. Loewe loves to surprise, so there might be something strange and funny at a cold-weather show. The overall feeling is typically warmer and more comfortable, however.
Colors change throughout the year.
The easiest way to identify a season. Warm season lighter, sunnier colors appear; later, deeper, moodier colors. Neutrals such as black and tan are back and forth, because they're purchased again and again.Neutral colors are a better choice if you wish yours to last beyond a single season. Colors that stand out or are unusual are more likely to be associated with one time of the day, and they may sell out quickly.
Materials Change Too
The backbone is still leather: nappa lambskin and calf leather. However, the supporting cast is constantly in rotation. Raffia and canvas are more likely to be used in warm collections, while suede and heavier fabrics are more likely to be used in colder collections.I would think materials sometimes initiate an idea for a season, because a new surface can stimulate new forms. Loewe doesn't say that, so it is my interpretation of the pattern.
Shapes Come and Go
There are some bags which are constants. Both Amazona (1975) and Puzzle (2014) remain in the range throughout the year, although they vary in size and color. Other shapes are a specific group and might not be returned. It's helpful to know that split. If you're looking for a traditional option, then you can afford to wait longer. With a seasonal one-off, it could be a case of waiting and watching losing.
Themes and Moods
Every collection has a style to it. Different elements like craft, art, humor, Spain, pop culture and place all appear at various moments. Sometimes one season is as quiet as a sculptural season, sometimes a jokey bright one.Not all of the houses are explanations of the theme, and a detailed listing is not published. If it does provide show notes, they are more likely to be accurate than general articles. Inspect them to see if they have recently been collected.
Artists and Collaborations
Special lines are sometimes added to a season. Loewe has collaborated with artists since the painter José Pérez de Rozas in 1965, up to the collaboration based on Studio Ghibli movies. These pieces are not part of the standard range. They're generally small in size, and might sell out quickly. When a collaboration is good, move faster than a regular style.
The Craft Stays Constant
This is the bit that remains unchanged. Many of Loewe's craftsmanship projects are inspired by Spain, as are the leather shops in his atelier in Getafe, near Madrid. Regardless of the season, the same care and attention applied to cutting, finishing the edges and stitching the end of the garment is applied. When making comparisons between two collections, ignore the colour and the mood. The finish should be the same in both. It is the consistent quality that makes the house identifiable through such varied appearances.
Menswear and Womenswear Shows
Loewe offers collections for both men and women, with different beats and thoughts. Though they share the house's passion for craft and art, they can be different in mood, shape and styling.I don't pretend to know all the details of how the shows are arranged. The official announcements of the brand are the best source for the current calendar.
Seasonal Doesn't Always Mean Short-Lived
One of the most common mistakes is believing that once a season is gone, it is gone. Some pieces do. A lot of styles are back in new variations, and classics are there year after year.If the color you want isn't available, inquire at the store if they have any other color, or if they have another store where they sell the item. Availability is dependent and a little question can open big options.
Self-Reading a Collection
No need of inside information. First examine the colors. Then the materials. Then the shapes. Ask what is happening over and over, as this typically is the collection's main idea. Then, observe its appearance in stores! Runway concepts frequently resurface in a milder, more wearable form and that is precisely what the season truly implies for shoppers.
